Pope Kisses the Koran

Pope John Paul II Kisses the Koran

Father Joe From silly to sacred, a priest speaks …

Many have wondered, why did the Pope kiss the Koran?

Is it not a book that speaks directly against the Catholic faith? Does it not reduce the Son of God to a mere prophet? Did not the popes of the past demand its burning? The answer to all these questions is YES, and yet what the Holy Father did was more complicated than what the anti-Catholic and/or sedevacantist spin-doctors might say about it.

One critic argues that it was a blasphemous act, showing his “hatred” of God and his apostate defection from the true faith. It was none of these things. The Pope is on the record about the differences between Catholics and the followers of Islam.

The Koran was a gift to him from the delegation. Islamic peoples are not casual in the giving of gifts. It represents the giver. They knew perfectly well that the Pope was a Catholic Christian, but they gave to him that which was regarded as most important in their life, their own holy book. Thus, at the end of the audience, the Pope showed his deep appreciation to this intimate self-donation, by bowing and kissing the Koran as a sign of respect. Such a gesture ran totally against the grain of crusades and condemnations. It did not mean that the Pope accepted all that was in the book, only that his love for the Muslim people, and the Iraqis in particular, was genuine. He makes the first move, not in the capitulation of our faith, but in the recognition that the followers of Jesus and those who cherish Mohammed should not be engaged in name-calling, or worse, killing each other. The Pope appreciated the suffering of the Iraqi people, particularly the women and children. It showed he did not look down upon them but had a genuine respect for them within the brotherhood of man.

My Comment: The world witnessed the Nazis kill millions of Jews, the Crusaders on their witch hunts killing many Christians. The world has seen enough hatred, I do agree with accepting Muslims for who they are. However, acceptance of another person created by God and accepting their freedom of choice is one thing, but kissing the Koran that goes against the very principles of the Bible and who our Lord and Savior is, sends out way the wrong message. Where Pope John Paul II left off, Pope Benedict XVI continues. Pope Benedict has been on a mission to unite all the religions of the world, turning Jerusalem into the religious UN of the world.

Many who follow Prophecy are aware of the coming one world religion under the antichrist. As we watch both the current and past Pope’s embrace Muslims in a manner that goes beyond what many believe to be Biblical, we must ask ourselves, what is their true agenda? Peace or a New World Religion?

Evangelical Christian and U.S. President George Bush said when interviewed by EWTN, that when he looks into Benedict XVI's eyes, he sees God.

My question for the forums today is, do you believe the antichrist will be a man that rises in the final days or could it be a seat, the seat of Rome and the Vicar of Christ, the Pope?

Psalm 38…Friday September 9th, 2011

Psalm 38 is called a penitential psalm because David expressed sorrow for his sin Psalm 38:18

He stated his sin led to health problems Psalm 38:1-8

And separated him from God and others causing extreme loneliness Psalm 38:9-14

He then confessed his sin and repented Psalm 38:15-22

Our sin can have physical or mental side effects that can cause great suffering. Sometimes God has to punish his children in order to bring us back to himself Hebrews 12:5-11

When we repent of our sin God promises to forgive us

He delivers us from the consequences of sin although he does not promise to undo all of sin’s earthly consequences

All my longings lie open before you, O Lord Psalm 38:9

I wait for you, O Lord; you will answer, O Lord my God v.15

O Lord do not forsake me; be not far from me O my God

Come quickly to help me, O Lord my Savior v.21-22

True sorrow for sin brings hope.

God alone is the true source of healing and protection for those who confess their sins to him

HOPE is the ANTICIPATION of that which GOD has promised

Do we trust God?

Jesus gave us an example being silent before his accusers

Luke 23:9-10

He left his case in God’s hands

1 Peter 2:21-24

This is a good place to leave ours as well

In times of suffering only God can bring forgiveness and healing so let us rejoice knowing that God forgives and defends those who so respond to His agape love

His grace is more than sufficient

Preoccupation with self causes our emotions to result in self destructive ways and leads to depression and despair

Healthy guilt will acknowledge ones sin and wrong doing and is then subsequently free to embrace the mercy Christ makes possible.

Healthy guilt can then focus on the realization all has been forgiven

HUMBLY REPENT and TURN GOING FORTH IN CONFIDENCE THAT YOU ARE FORGIVEN AND ARE IN RIGHT RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD AND THAT HE CAN THUS LEAD AND DIRECT YOU ARIGHT

O Lord do not forsake me; be not far from me

For you alone are my strength and my hope is in you alone
