Ethanol Production Fueling ‘Food Inflation’

When this ethanol business all started it was proven it was far more costly than its benefits. From the planting to the growing the harvesting and the transportation to the production facilities to the final product.

Now the Head Idiot sitting (occasionally) in the White House has announced he wants the ethanol production stepped up from 10% to 20% which the 10% has already messed up small carburetors and engines like in lawn mowers and it has been reported with the upgrade the manufacturers will have to totally redesign not only the small engines and carburetors but those for automobiles as well.

While rising food prices have been a factor in recent riots in Egypt, Tunisia and elsewhere, the United States is continuing to increase its use of corn to make ethanol, pushing up grain and meat prices worldwide.

“The global economy is getting back on its feet, but so too is an old enemy: food inflation,” The Wall Street Journal states in an editorial, noting that the United Nations benchmark index for food reached a record high in December, “raising fears of shortages and higher prices.”

In 2001, only 7 percent of America’s corn crop, about 707 million bushels, was used to make ethanol fuel for vehicles. By 2010, nearly 40 percent of American corn went for ethanol — almost 5 billion bushels out of total U.S. production of 12.4 billion bushels.

American farmers account for about 39 percent of global corn production, and about 16 percent of the crop is exported, so America’s ethanol production can influence world prices.

March futures for corn recently hit a 30-month high of $6.67 a bushel, up from $4 a bushel a year ago.

Also, since 40 percent of U.S. corn production is used as animal feed, rising corn prices push up the cost of beef, poultry and other items as well.

“This trend is the deliberate result of policies designed to subsidize ethanol,” and it “coincides with a growing consensus that ethanol achieves none of its alleged policy goals,” The Journal observes.

Ethanol supporters claim it reduces American dependence on foreign oil, but a Cornell University scientist calculated that even if the entire American crop was used for ethanol, it would satisfy just 4 percent of our oil consumption.

And the Environmental Protection Agency has downplayed assertions that ethanol provides a cleaner source of energy than gasoline, saying it “has a minimal to negative impact on the environment,” according to The Journal.

The American Thinker on Monday observed: “Today there is a global food shortage and sky-rocketing prices. This has become the underlying factor in the riots in Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt, where up to 56 percent of a person’s income is dedicated to the acquisition of food. These riots are now leading to the upheaval of governments and the very real possibility of the ascendancy of the radical elements into control.”

A significant factor “in the overall global food situation is the American decision to, in essence, burn food in its cars, a policy championed by the environmentalists since the 1990s,” American Thinker also noted.

“There is no quicker way to foment riots and revolution than to deprive the populace of food, particularly when so much daily income goes into feeding oneself and one’s family. The pictures we have seen in North Africa may well be repeated elsewhere throughout the world.”

Noting that Congress recently voted to extend the $5 billion tax credit for blending ethanol into gasoline, The Journal concludes: “At a time when the world will need more corn and grains, it makes no sense to devote scarce farmland to make a fuel that exists only because of taxpayer subsidies and mandates.

“If food supplies tighten and prices keep rising, such a policy will soon become immoral.”

My Comment:

Revelation 6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and [see] thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

There are those who believe that Revelation 6 here is speaking on a spiritual level instead of a physical one. That the oil could be the 144.000 who are marked and cannot be harmed at this point, and the wine is everyone else left to go through the great trib. I however believe that seeing the oil and the wine are linked with a price, its meaning is to be taken as literal.

Over the last couple of years food prices have already started to soar way above the rate of inflation and with the severe weather that we have been having in so many parts of the world, it is now only a matter of time before food inventories become low and the prices go through the roof causing further riots such as seen in Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Greece and Portugal.

Forbes magazine Editor in Chief Steve Forbes warns: “Thus today we are faced with potential catastrophe. Lethal bacteria now threaten to colonize U.S. hospitals. If nothing is done, we will be facing a bacterial apocalypse. The horrors that we thought were banished 70 years ago are coming back.”

By not hurting our oil, but furthering its supply through the use of ethanol corn, are we hastening the coming of the rider on the black horse? Current events right now are following Bible prophecy so closely that I have started wondering on whether or not they are actually using prophecy as their guide?

We know for sure through prophecy that a New World Order, war, famine, disease and pandemics are destined to happen in our near future. As for right now, we are looking at increased prices due to the shortage of our basic food commodities such as corn. Inflation induced by government regulation through the production of ethanol that will cause severe food shortages.

We live in a society where very few of us really cooks anymore, we head to the grocery store for pre-made, heat and serve food, or worse yet just head for the closest fast food outlet.

“American fast food is almost entirely produced from corn according to a chemical analysis of dishes served at McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's. The study is published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Using a stable isotope analysis of carbon and nitrogen to determine the origin of molecules present in hamburgers, chicken, and fries, Hope Jahren and Rebecca Kraft found corn to be the almost exclusive food source of the beef and chicken served in fast food restaurants”.

Many today believe that verses such as these declare a pre-tribulation rapture. There are many ways that God can protect His children as God’s judgement, reminiscent of the plagues that fell on Egypt, begin to fall upon us. These verses are clarifying the safety of the faithful in a time of God’s coming judgment upon sinful mankind.

Are you sealed, Revelation 7:3 “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.”

Do we have a thirst for God?

When we feel lonely or depressed do we meditate on God’s kindness and love?

Let us look at the words that David penned?

My soul pants for you, O God

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God Psalm 42:1-2

Put your hope in God, my Savior and my God Psalm 42:.5 which is penned amidst feeling downcast and an inner depression.

He could not rest till his relationship with God was restored because he knew his very life depended on it

DO WE LIKEWISE TRULY THIRST FOR GOD?

As we choose to meditate on God’s goodness; this will take our minds off the present situation and give hope and anticipation to that which God can likewise do. Focus on that which God has the ability to likewise do as He reaches forth to help us and so meditate thereon.

By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me

PUT YOUR HOPE IN GOD, MY SAVIOR AND MY GOD Psalm 42:11

WHAT is our TRUE DESIRES and PRAYER THAT REACHES FORTH TO TOUCH THE THRONE OF GOD WHO IS OUR LIFE?

Why are you cast down O my soul?

Why are you disquieted within me?

Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for His help.

The Lord will command His loving kindness in the daytime and in the night His song shall be with m. Hope thou in God

Amidst every circumstance or situation we choose to react negatively or to so relate to the truths that Christ sets forth in the Word of God.

We choose to never forget that our heavenly Father loves us with all His heart and is caring for us every second of every day.

His loving kindness reaches forth and there is His abiding presence with us in every situation for Lo He is with us ALWAYS being our Comforter who restores the joy of our relationship with Christ and the full benefits of salvation.

‘Tis when we feel separated from God that we need to express hope in God through prayer for His word says SEEK and ye shall FIND

Seek God amidst the discouragement of life and discover the hope which he will so impart and provide

Amidst the why’s of life discover His will and purpose.

In all things He is creating in us the character that was so evident in Christ

So COME DRAW NIGHT IN PRAYER appropriating the HOPE that is available in our RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM that our WALK IN LIFE WOULD BE SO AFFECTED and the INFLUENCE OF HIS PRESENCE WOULD BE EVIDENT.

BE STILL and KNOW THE REALITY OF GOD

RETURNING and so ENCOUNTERING TRUE REST FOR THE SOUL

HOPE AMIDST TIMES OF DISCOURAGEMENT IS OUR ONLY HOPE WHEN WE FOCUS ON GOD’S LOVE AND SO ABIDE IN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST

Vindicate me…You are my stronghold

Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me

Bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell

To God my joy and my delight

Why are you downcast O my soul?

Why so disturbed within me?

Put your hope in God for I will yet praise him

Psalm 43

His light and truth guides us aright whereby we can encounter God anew. His truth provides the right path to follow and makes clear that which is needed

He is always with us delivering us from deceitful and unjust situations. He is our strength whereby His victory to be an overcomer is possible. He will never cast us off or reject us so when the enemy tries to thwart us the Lord’s light and truth will be our guide and lead us to encounter the joy of His presence with hope springing up accolades of praise

BE YE A VESSEL OF PRAISE BECAUSE OF THE HOPE THAT IS WITHIN YOU

Ultimately when we turn and truly seek Him we discover a new awareness of hope that becomes resident affecting our inner most being

In these 2 Psalms in our desire to be near to God along with the power of prayer that comes from a humble, sincere and open heart sees and encounters all things ultimately working together for good amidst the situations of life
