Occupy Wall Street
The resistance continues at Liberty Square and goes worldwide.
On August 2, 2011 a mere dozen people sat in a circle in Bowling Green and this one demonstration has picked up enormous momentum, with thousands of supporters taking up the cause and spreading to hundreds of cities worldwide. The fight for the basic rights of the common bank customer has now become known worldwide as “Occupy Wall Street”.
The protests have even inspired questions at U.S. President Barack Obama’s news conference at the White House. The president in response to journalists' questions said that the growing protests in New York “express the frustration that all American people feel” with the slow recovery from the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.
