Question by akimbo.
I thought that after rome there would be no 1 world goverment, do you think that there will be one? I just think that they are going to try to do it, like they are now of course but it looks to me that its notgoing to happen. And another thing, does it and where does it talk about there being a one world religion in the Bible? And does it talk about a one world goverment?
Answer: The Bible does not use the phrase “one-world government” or “one-world religion” in referring to the end times. It does, however, provide ample evidence to enable us to draw the conclusion that both will exist under the rule of the Antichrist in the last days.
John sees the “beast,” called the Antichrist, rising out of the sea having seven heads and ten horns in Revelation 13:1. The ten-nation confederacy is also seen in Daniel’s image of the statue in Daniel 2:41-42, where he pictures the final world government consisting of ten entities represented by the ten toes of the statue.
Combining John’s vision with Daniel’s in Daniel 7:16-24 we can see the rise of the One World Government in the little horn that will defeat the other nine. Scripture tells us that the beast will either destroy them or reduce their power to nothing more than figureheads much like in the past where kings were put in place and answered to the Pope. In the end, they will do his bidding.
John describes:
· the ruler of this vast empire as having power and great authority, given to him by Satan himself (Revelation 13:2),
· being followed by and receiving worship from “all the world” (Revelation 13:3-4),
· Having authority over “every tribe, people, language and nation” (Revelation 13:7).
The disasters and plagues described in Revelation as the seal and trumpet judgments will be so devastating and will create such a monumental global crisis that people will embrace anything and anyone that promises to give them any kind of normalcy and relief. This will enable Lucifer to rule through the antichrist, bringing the whole world that has not been blinded by his deceit, to follow him through his total control over all worship and commerce. This is the One-World government that will appear as the answer to the world’s economic woes when the economies of the world collapse.
Daniel sets the stage for four empires which rule one after another. These are the empires of the Babylonians, the Medes and the Persians, the Greeks and Macedonians and the Romans. These four worldly empires are in the end overthrown by a fifth empire. This fifth empire is established by the "rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands" (Daniel 2:45).
Seeing that Rome is the forth Empire and Christ will be the fifth and final one, then we still live within the image of Nebuchadnezzar’s vision of the statue and the statue’s parts. Many believe that this means the antichrist will come out of the European Union, but I personally feel that the Roman Catholic Church, the Vatican and the Pope fit into the imagery a lot more clearly.
Many today live life as they want with the belief that when all this starts to happen they will then turn their life over to God. I feel sorry for them for they will not have the maturity to calmly feel God’s guiding hand and face what is coming. As a Christian, we grow one day at a time, growing in Christ, therefore you have nothing to fear. God will give you the strength and courage you will need when the time comes. Yes we may face things that many would concede unbearable, we may have to choose between life as we now have it and the blessing of eternal life with Christ. But did not Christ do the same for us on the cross. When things start to get tough, those whom know his voice will hear it and receive all the guidance needed. The coming days are not to be feared but to be praised. Where the world can only see today, we can see into eternity, and it is glorious.
